Highlights from Futurs Numériques IVADO, our flagship event showcasing student research

Our flagship student research and science outreach event “Futurs Numériques IVADO” took place on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at the Université de Montréal’s MIL Campus, and was a great success!

Aimed at students, postdoctoral fellows and professors interested in AI and data science, the event featured a wide range of activities, including exciting discussions and some 40 student presentations.

A keynote address on the importance of AI in Quebec, the role of the Quebec Innovation Council and possible avenues for any young researcher in the field in the province, was given by Luc Sirois, Quebec’s Chief Innovator and Anne Nguyen, Director Responsible for AI at the Quebec Innovation Council.

A panel on personal data was presented by two Université de Montréal professors: Vincent Gautrais, Full Professor, and Jean-François Godbout.

A number of partners took part in the event, including Ericsson, Desjardins, Hitachi Energy, Intact and Fastercom, and several prizes were awarded. We congratulate all the winners:

  • Ericsson Jury First Prize – Best oral presentation ($1,500): Georges-Philippe Gadoury-Sansfaçon (Université de Montréal, Bioethics)
