IVADO announces the recipients of its Scientist in Residence program

IVADO, a consortium dedicated to research, transfer, training, and knowledge mobilization in artificial intelligence, is pleased to announce the names of the 10 recipients of its Scientist in Residence program.

Launched in March 2024 through a call for applications, the Scientist in Residence program aims to make scientific expertise accessible to startups. This is achieved through customized training and transfer activities developed by a PhD student to meet the needs of a startup’s R&D project. For startups, the program provides a unique opportunity to acquire new skills and significantly advance their R&D projects.

Doctoral students taking part in the program benefit from a skills transfer experience that complements their academic curriculum, thanks to hands-on immersion in an entrepreneurial environment. This experience enables them to contribute directly to the growth of Quebec startups at the cutting edge of technological advances in artificial intelligence.

“This program serves as a true bridge between academic research and market needs, leveraging the valuable expertise of doctoral students to accelerate innovation within startups. In return, startups provide researchers with a dynamic environment to apply their knowledge, fostering a mutually beneficial synergy for all involved.”

– Gabrielle Langlois, Technology Transfer, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Advisor.

The laureates, who will receive a $10,000 scholarship administered by their home university, come from diverse backgrounds encompassing disciplines such as user experience (UX), operations research, data science, data visualization, natural language processing (NLP), and machine learning.
