IVADO and Printemps Numérique announce partnership for “Mamo/Mamu: Indigenous Youth Ambassadors for Change” initiative
IVADO and Printemps numérique are pleased to announce their collaboration on Mamo-Mamu, a series of activities to be presented at MTL connects from October 15 to 18, 2024, and rolled out over the coming months. Mamo-Mamu, which means “together” in the Atikamewk and Innu languages, is a project developed in co-creation with young Aboriginal leaders. They are invited to explore the possibilities of technology and AI, in order to think about a desirable digital future for their communities.
The rapid adoption of artificial intelligence in many parts of our society must not blind us to the fact that it is essential to bridge the digital divide affecting certain populations, and in particular indigenous communities. Access to digital skills is not limited to the use of tools, but also encompasses the know-how essential for professional integration and civic participation. Digital technology has the potential to preserve indigenous traditions while opening up new professional opportunities, and the Mamo-Mamu initiative is part of this commitment.
“The Mamo/Mamu project reflects Printemps numérique’s concrete commitment to the inclusion and involvement of young people. By harnessing digital as a vehicle for equal opportunities, we aim to inspire them and amplify their contribution within communities. Very happy for our collaboration with IVADO in this initiative,” says Mehdi Benboubakeur, General Manager of Printemps numérique.
“First Nations youth leaders are all those who, tomorrow, 5 years from now or 100 years from now, will take a stand, oppose social inequalities and be agents of positive change among their peers in order to contribute to the pride and cultural health of our communities. Let’s turn resilience into resurgence,” says Stéphane Nepton, Pekuakamiulnuatsh, Printemps numérique Indigenous Digital Mediation Project Coordinator.
“As a partner in the Mamo/Mamu collective project, IVADO is proud to contribute to an initiative that highlights concrete solutions for enhancing native cultures. Adopted responsibly, artificial intelligence enables us to explore new avenues and offer innovative responses to many of the issues faced by aboriginal communities.”, said Réjean Roy, Director of Training and Knowledge Mobilization of IVADO.
