IVADO and PINQ² Join Forces to Propel Quantum Research in Quebec

Montreal, November 10, 2025 – IVADO and PINQ², the Digital and Quantum Innovation Platform, announce a major strategic partnership that will provide the entire IVADO community, comprising five partner universities, with access to the IBM Quantum System One Quebec (QS1) computing infrastructure.

Quantum computing leverages the unique properties of quantum physics to solve problems beyond the reach of classical computers. It offers unprecedented computational capabilities and paves the way for major advances in scientific research and technological applications.

This partnership builds on the success of the IVADO–PINQ²–IBM Quantum workshops held in Yorktown in June 2024 and Montreal in February 2025, which demonstrated how quantum computing and AI can accelerate discoveries and foster concrete collaborations between academia and industry.

All IVADO researchers will now have the opportunity to explore emerging quantum applications in educational, scientific, and industrial projects. Access to QS1, which is the first and only IBM quantum computing infrastructure deployed in Canada, will enable experimentation, collaboration, and advancement of their research.

“This collaboration between IVADO and PINQ² will enable our teams to explore cutting-edge research opportunities and turn innovative ideas into reality, advancing science at the intersection of AI and quantum computing. It further reinforces Quebec’s leadership in this vital field,” said Luc Vinet, CEO of IVADO.

“This alliance opens new avenues for integrating quantum computing into applied projects in Quebec, fostering collaborations between academia and industry across sectors such as finance, aerospace and defense, energy, and the environment,” added Marie-Claude Messier, CEO of PINQ².

Supported by the Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie (MEIE), this collaboration is set to have a transformative impact on quantum research in Quebec and contribute to IVADO’s R³AI project, which aims to develop and promote robust, reasoning, and responsible AI.

Together, IVADO and PINQ² aim to drive interdisciplinary research, speed up technology transfer, and enhance expertise in applied quantum computing, positioning Quebec as a world-leading hub for quantum research and innovation.

About PINQ²

PINQ² is a non-profit organization founded by the Université de Sherbrooke and the Government of Quebec. It operates Canada’s first advanced hybrid platform (AHP), integrating classical, quantum, and hybrid computing. Its mission is to democratize access to cutting-edge infrastructure, reduce innovation risks, and bridge the gap between advanced computing potential and practical adoption. PINQ² provides universities, companies, SMEs, and startups with access to classical, quantum, and hybrid infrastructure to build capacity, explore use cases, and accelerate adoption. The platform drives quantum innovation in priority sectors such as energy and environment, finance, aerospace, and defense.
