Shanghai Ranking 2025: Polytechnique Montréal, Université de Montréal, and HEC Montréal in the global top 10 for AI
The three affiliated universities Université de Montréal, Polytechnique Montréal, and HEC Montréal rank 9th worldwide in the “Artificial Intelligence” category of the renowned Shanghai Ranking 2025.
This achievement reflects the exceptional concentration of talent and AI infrastructure across these three institutions, which make up part of the academic core of the IVADO ecosystem.
In 2024–2025, IVADO supported a network of over 350 affiliated researchers, backed more than a hundred research projects, announced six new AI chairs, and launched major, unprecedented structural initiatives, including the R3AI research clusters and thematic semesters in artificial intelligence.
These initiatives collectively strengthen scientific output, attract international talent, and foster the development of robust, reasoning, and responsible AI.
This performance further confirms Montréal’s status as one of the world’s most influential scientific hubs in artificial intelligence.
