IVADO, Magog Technopole, and CZAME launch an AI pilot project to enhance safety and well-being of seniors in residences

Montreal, February 26, 2026 – IVADO is partnering with Magog Technopole, CZAME, and several private seniors’ homes (RPA) in the region, including Les Jardins de Magog, Les Jardins Pinecroft, and L’Accueil Notre-Dame, to implement an innovative AI pilot project aimed at improving the safety and quality of life of seniors in residence.

Selected under the envisAGE initiative, co-led by MEDTEQ+ and AGE-WELL, this project is one of 41 supported to date to validate and accelerate technologies addressing aging-related challenges. The initiative aims to strengthen Canada’s leadership in AgeTech, supported by the Government of Canada, the Government of Quebec, industry, and partner organizations.

The project combines sensors, smart watches, and connected bracelets on the LoRaWAN network, a proven technology in Europe, to:

  • Automatically detect falls;
  • Quickly locate residents who may wander;
  • Accelerate responses in case of incidents.

Collected data are pseudonymized and analyzed using AI models developed with IVADO researchers. The system will specifically:

  • Optimize alerts sent to teams and caregivers;
  • Provide professionals with a secure conversational tool to help interpret events between visits;
  • Improve continuity of care, particularly for individuals with cognitive decline.

“This project demonstrates how artificial intelligence, by combining technology and on-the-ground team expertise, can truly make a difference in the lives of seniors and their caregivers. By working hand in hand with these teams, we are developing concrete and innovative solutions that bring more safety, peace of mind, and daily support,” explains Nancy Laramée, Director of Partnerships at IVADO.

The pilot project will be gradually deployed in partner residences and will undergo rigorous evaluation to document tangible impacts and consider broader deployment across Quebec.
