Co-Scientific Directors

Research Programs and Academic Member Relations

IVADO, a research, training, and knowledge mobilization consortium in artificial intelligence, is seeking a Co-Scientific Director. This position will play a critical role in directing and managing the scientific activities of the program, as well as developing the scientific research strategy for IVADO.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Scientific Director, the CEO, and other Co-Scientific Directors to advance IVADO’s scientific vision, and participate in IVADO’s management meetings and discussions.
  • Work closely with the Director of Research Services at IVADO and the IVADO staff to advance and guide the implementation and monitoring of research programs, including planning and launching research competitions and new collaboration initiatives.
  • Collaborate with IVADO’s academic members to promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the development of interdisciplinary research projects.
  • Work closely with the academic members to develop Research Groups aimed at funding thematic groups that will advance the vision of R3AI.
  • Actively contribute to the scientific research strategy of R3AI and the advancement of IVADO’s vision.
  • Contribute to the leadership and co-chairing of IVADO’s scientific committee to provide guidance and direction to the IVADO staff on the progress and development of R3AI’s scientific research programs.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a tenured full or associate professor at the University of Montreal, HEC Montreal, Polytechnique Montreal, Laval University, or McGill University.
  • Recognized expertise in the general field of artificial intelligence and its applications.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading research projects and managing interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to mobilize academic members and foster collaboration and innovation.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and project management skills.

Expectations and Contract Duration:

This position is intended to be compatible with the pursuit of teaching and research activities. Social Innovation and Engagement

IVADO, a research, training, and knowledge mobilization consortium in artificial intelligence, is seeking a Co-Scientific Director. This position will play a crucial role in leading and developing the social science aspect of the R3AI program, as well as promoting interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary collaborations across research fields. The Co-Director will also be responsible for providing leadership and contributing to the development of IVADO’s equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) strategy and the strategy for engaging indigenous communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Scientific Director, the CEO, and other Co-Scientific Directors to advance IVADO’s scientific R3AI vision, and participate in IVADO’s management meetings and discussions.
  • Actively foster the intersectoral vitality of IVADO by promoting the involvement of social sciences in research and knowledge mobilization.
  • Work with the “Conseillère ou Conseiller aux relations avec les Premiers peuples IVADO” to develop and promote the engagement of indigenous communities in IVADO’s scientific activities, ensuring appropriate representation and recognition of indigenous knowledge.
  • Foster interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary collaborations by encouraging exchanges and partnerships among researchers from different research fields.
  • Work with the “Conseillère ou Conseiller EDI d’IVADO” to contribute to the definition and implementation of IVADO’s EDI strategy by promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in scientific activities and the life of IVADO.
  • Actively participate in the strategic vision and development of social innovation activities.
  • Participate in IVADO’s scientific committee to provide guidance and direction to the IVADO staff on the progress and development of R3AI’s scientific programs.

Qualifications:

Academic Partnerships

IVADO, a research, training, and knowledge mobilization consortium in artificial intelligence, is seeking a Co-Scientific Director. This position will play a crucial role in leading and providing mentorship to IVADO researchers and new IVADO professors. The Co-Scientific Director will also be responsible for liaising with the relevant faculties and departments across the 5 partnering universities and integrating them into IVADO’s research and knowledge transfer activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Scientific Director, the CEO, and other Co-Scientific Directors to advance IVADO’s scientific R3AI vision, and participate in IVADO’s management meetings and discussions.
  • Optimize relationships and collaborations with the U5 universities, with a focus on hiring and mentoring IVADO professors, engaging all member-researchers, recruiting IVADO postdocs, mentoring young researchers, developing training programs, and fostering student life at IVADO.
  • Ensure smooth integration of IVADO professors into partnering universities, facilitating exchanges and collaborations between researchers and relevant departments.
  • Advance Partenariats the development of mentoring and professional development programs for IVADO researchers and early career researchers.
  • Collaborate with faculties and departments to identify research and knowledge transfer opportunities and promote their active participation in IVADO activities.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of training programs for IVADO students, thereby fostering their academic and professional growth.
  • Participate in IVADO’s scientific committee to provide guidance and direction to the IVADO staff on the progress and development of R3AI’s academic programs.
