On May 13-17, 2024, IVADO is hosting the Future Horizons: Bridging AI, Quantum and New Materials scientific workshop as part of an ongoing collaboration with the Perimeter Institute, Institut Courtois and Mila. Initiated in November 2023, this collaboration aims to fast-forward the discovery of new materials and molecules by harnessing the power of AI in combination with quantum physics through research collaborations, scientific activities, and knowledge transfer initiatives.

This scientific workshop is composed of 3 segments. The first segment starts on May 13, 2024, with two Bridge Lectures to launch the event. Our keynote speakers will present how the fields of AI and quantum physics can mutually speed up innovation.

The second segment will be two days of tutorials and hands-on sessions on May 14-15 and will allow participants to learn more about tensor networks and the applications of machine learning in quantum physics.

The third segment is the “un-conference” which will take place on May 16. Participants will first suggest several themes of interest. Four of these themes will be selected and participants will join one of the breakout sessions based on their research interests. Each group will prepare a presentation on their assigned theme during the morning session, and will present it during the afternoon. This format allows ideas to flow and promotes the creation of stronger connections between participants.

The workshop will end on May 17 with a discussion on the use of machine learning in the discovery of new materials, followed by a wrap-up discussion.
