Montréal, December 9, 2019 – Funartech Inc. (Funartech) and the Institute for data valorization (IVADO) are proud to announce a partnership agreement to create new ways of doing artificial intelligence (AI).
Funartech is developing a new hybridization of machine learning with operations research that opens up the door for many new applications of AI. In particular, Funartech will soon be launching an emotive bot that can autonomously change its emotions and even define by itself what an emotion is. Another groundbreaking project is the implementation of a truly intelligent algorithm that can autonomously improve its understanding of its environment. The system will be able to completely wipe out the initial information and knowledge that was provided to it. The idea is not to have it randomly replace some chunks of its internal memory but to “cautiously” decide to replace parts or even all of what it has learnt or been programmed to be/do.
This collaboration will therefore foster interesting and challenging exchanges between the university researchers who contribute to IVADO and Funartech’s R&D team. They will refine and propel our new disruptive technology to meet the market’s evolving needs and possibly create totally new applications, in particular for the tailoring of software solutions presented in the new industry 5.0 approach. This partnership between a start-up that places innovation at the core of its strategy and an internationally recognized scientific and economic hub based in Québec will also support the development of new links between the academic and business communities.
About Funartech Inc.
Funartech is a start-up company based in Montréal (Québec) whose mission is to apply its AI technology to help projects that have a positive impact on the environment and the society. Funartech has three main divisions: consultancy for other companies, R&D and recently products. Funartech helps companies implement AI solutions that improve their processes by 10, 20 or even 40% doing prescriptive analysis and co-constructing solutions for their customers. All our projects are R&D based and we also do fundamental research in AI pushing the boundaries of what experts thought possible. Soon, Funartech will launch its own line of products, starting with the injection of emotions into AI in general and in chatbots in particular.
The Institute for data valorization (IVADO) is a joint initiative of HEC Montréal, Polytechnique Montréal and Université de Montréal that brings together nearly 100 industrial, academic and government partners. With over 1,200 member researchers, IVADO is a multidisciplinary centre of advanced expertise in statistics, artificial intelligence and operations research. IVADO’s mission is to 1) contribute to the development of an economic sector in big data processing for decision making; 2) create privileged partnerships between industry and the administrative, social and academic sectors; 3) contribute to the advancement of knowledge and train new generations of data scientists; and 4) foster exchange and knowledge sharing between experts, partners, researchers and students. IVADO provides a framework for six research centres: Canada Excellence Research Chair in Data Science for Real-Time Decision Making, CIRRELT, CRM, GERAD, MILA and Tech3Lab.
