Collection and Sharing of Personal Data via Smartphones: Results of Citizen Deliberation

What is acceptable (or not) regarding collecting and sharing personal data gathered on individuals’ smartphones by AI systems? To address this question, which remains insufficiently investigated, the method of citizen deliberation will be mobilized as an epistemological and methodological choice in this qualitative and inductive research conducted among a diverse group of citizens. The citizen recommendations arising from this project aim to legitimize, within the societal context of Quebec, political and legal provisions and guidelines for the private sector related to the principle of protecting citizens’ privacy in the face of AI intrusion.
