Foutse Khomh is associate professor in the Department of Computer and Software Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal.

This Chair will contribute to the emergence of new theories, methods and tools to facilitate the development, testing and implementation of high-quality software applications that incorporate machine learning (MLSsAs). It is at the crossroads of software engineering, artificial intelligence and project management and will explore the full life cycles of software applications incorporating artificial intelligence components.

“Vulnerable groups in our society can be disadvantaged or have their rights infringed upon by bias in machine learning–based systems. Equity is a significant factor in the ensuring the quality of such systems. Techniques developed through the Chair’s work will contribute to bias detection and correction in these systems. The Chair will also contribute to EDI objectives by ensuring diversity and inclusion in the composition of its research team.”
