Artificial Intelligence in Brachytherapy: Reliable, Personalized and Enhanced Radiation Therapy

Radiation medicine has significantly advanced, particularly in precision medicine treatments such as brachytherapy, which offers highly focused radiation doses to tumours while sparing healthy tissue. This research aims to enhance brachytherapy with Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms by developing applications that improve treatment accuracy and safety. The initiative focuses on developing a framework for personalized adaptive treatments following the R3AI principles, emphasizing the development of AI that is not only technically advanced but also ethically sound and responsible. This effort actively involves clinical medical physicists, the end-users of the technology, in the prototyping and testing phases.
