Generative artificial intelligence is a hot topic in the world of work. But what do workers really think about it? Are they worried about their jobs? Are they already using it? And above all, how are they adapting to its arrival? That’s what CRIMT and IVADO set out to understand in this study funded by the Centre for Future Skills.
To answer these questions, we combined two complementary sources: an analysis of 94 posts from Canadian discussion forums on Reddit and a survey of 1,015 Quebec workers—members of the Léger Opinion (LEO) panel—conducted between June 26 and July 2, 2026. The results paint a more nuanced picture than one might expect of the arrival of AI in the workplace. They reveal uses, concerns, and adaptation strategies that do not always align with common assumptions.
