AI in the Ballot Box

The Global Policy Brief emphasizes that AI threatens the integrity of elections and democracy. Faced with the inadequacy of current regulations, experts convened by IVADO and the University of Ottawa’s AI+Society Initiative propose four urgent actions: Updating electoral rules to prohibit misleading AI-generated content; The adoption by political parties of a code of conduct for the responsible use of AI; The creation by electoral authorities of independent teams to prevent disruptions; And, the establishment of an International AI Electoral Trustkeepers and international protocols for mutual assistance in case of AI-related interference.
