Strengthening collaborative ties between Quebec City and South Korea, and showcasing Quebec’s expertise and leadership in the field of AI: that’s the goal of the delegation set up by IVADO with the support of the Quebec Office in Seoul, which will soon be visiting Seoul for the highly renowned AI Expo Korea, where IVADO will host a booth from May 1 to 3, 2024.

Launched as part of IVADO’s R³AI project for the development and adoption of robust, reasoning and responsible AI, the delegation is led by Luc Vinet, IVADO’s CEO, and comprises some twenty participants from academia and industry. The delegation includes professors from Université de Montréal, Polytechnique Montréal, Université Laval and McGill University, and also provides an opportunity for fast-growing IVADO startups Baüne, Maket and PhonIA to expand their market in Asia.

Following on from the establishment of the IVADO’s Research Regroupements, the delegation will focus on the themes of atural Language Processing, the discovery of new materials and molecules thanks to AI, and AI ethics and governance.

Alongside the AI Expo Korea, several meetings with key players in South Korea’s AI sector are also planned, including the Seoul AI Hub, the Korea AI Association, the Seoul Digital Foundation and the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology. Workshops with internationally renowned academic partners – Seoul National University and KAIST AI – will also be held to enable Quebec and Korean professors to initiate joint research projects. These meetings will help strengthen ties between Quebec and Korean universities, and should lead to the signing of official agreements.

IVADO would like to extend its warmest thanks to all its partners for organizing this delegation to South Korea, and particularly to the Quebec Office in Seoul, with which it worked closely.
