IVADO announces support for 11 postdoctoral projects, 2 of which are co-financed with Obvia
IVADO, a consortium for research, training, and knowledge mobilization in artificial intelligence, is pleased to announce the names of the first nine recipients of its new postdoctoral fellowship program, as well as the names of the two postdoctoral projects jointly supported by IVADO and Obvia.
Launched in 2023, the IVADO postdoctoral fellowship program aims to provide financial support to outstanding researchers whose research projects will make a significant contribution to the advancement and adoption of the R3AI initiative, Shifting Paradigms for a Robust, Reasoning and Responsible Artificial Intelligence and its Adoption, funded by the Canada Research Excellence Fund.
Coming from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds, these postdoctoral fellows will explore AI through fields as diverse as health, agriculture, sociology, political science and deep learning.
“IVADO already has a vast research community, and we are delighted to welcome these postdoctoral fellows who will enrich it. We’re particularly proud of the diversity of expertise, which demonstrates the vitality of the artificial intelligence research ecosystem”.
– Virginie Portes, Director of Research Support.
Winners will receive $75,000 in salary funding and $30,000 in research funding from their supervisor, each year for two years.

The two laureates were selected for their exceptional potential to make significant contributions to their fields, in line with Obvia’s scientific objectives in the area of the societal impacts of AI and digital technologies. Having assessed that their projects correspond to the objectives of its R3AI initiative for more robust, reasoning AI and its responsible adoption, IVADO is increasing their Obvia grant from $50,000 to $75,000 for one year.
This contribution reflects the shared aspirations of both organizations to support researchers who stand out for their exceptional careers, and who are contributing to the development of responsible AI with beneficial societal impacts.
