Empowering the 50+ Generation through AI Training
Montreal, January 22, 2025 – IVADO, an interdisciplinary, cross-sectoral research and knowledge mobilization consortium, is partnering with UTA, Université du troisième âge at the Université de Sherbrooke to expand AI learning opportunities for adults aged 50 and over.
This innovative collaboration will enhance IVADO’s educational mandate by developing teaching approaches and course content that align with both today’s technological landscape and the learning needs of newcomers to the field. The partnership focuses on three core objectives:
- Creating accessible lifelong learning opportunities that explore emerging technologies and their societal impact
- Fostering social connections and peer learning among mature students through intergenerational dialogue and collaborative learning activities
- Empowering older adults by providing innovative learning tools in artificial intelligence, digital technology and science
“Our UTA students are passionate about staying current with today’s issues. AI is no exception, and this partnership with IVADO will help them better understand and integrate AI into their daily lives,” says Monique Harvey, director of the Université du troisième âge at the Université de Sherbrooke.
“Technological innovation should be accessible to everyone. This partnership breaks down generational barriers by giving older adults the tools to understand and embrace today’s technologies,” explains Réjean Roy, director of training and knowledge mobilization at IVADO.
IVADO will share its artificial intelligence expertise to co-create learning materials tailored to UTA learners’ needs. Participants will benefit from personalized guidance that combines scientific rigor with inclusive teaching approaches.
